'I never do anything to get banned.. I just go a little too far for some': Rihanna insists she's not controversial

Some of Rihanna's videos have fallen foul of censors for being too raunchy.
But despite her saucy stage antics and scantily-clad outfits, the Barbadian singer insists she doesn't set out to be controversial.
Her recent video We Found Love attracted plenty of attention for its depiction of drugs and violence.
And although the 24-year-old insists she didn't set out to raise eyebrows, she admits she sometimes oversteps the mark.

She tells the new issue of the Radio Times: 'When I make a music video, it’s a piece of art. It’s four minutes to make a visual, for people to understand the message in the song.
'I never do anything to get banned, never do it for controversy. It’s always just honest and at times I just go a little too far for some.'

Already conquered the music world, Rihanna is now setting her sights on films with a supporting role in new action movie Battleship.
Recalling her casting, she said: 'I just knew that I had a meeting, and this guy just started talking and showing me lots of pictures of aliens.
'It was not until the end that I realised he was the actual director of the film (Peter Berg).
When asked what she brings to the film, she laughed: 'What do I bring to the movie? My bad ass-ness, and my buns. That’s what I bring.'
But Rihanna admitted she already had a bit of weapon knowledge.
She explained: 'I was in the cadets when I was about 11.'
