Sunanda Pushkar slaps a man in airport |
Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of newly-appointed Minister of State for Human Resources Development (HRD) Shashi Tharoor, repeatedly swatted away the hands of a man allegedly misbehaving with her during a jostle at the airport here.
However, the Malayalam news channel that aired this clip which was available on YouTube, claimed the man who was misbehaving with Pushkar was a Youth Congress worker. The claim could not be verified.
Tharoor had arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram airport along with his wife to celebrate his entry as a minister in the UPA government.
In the video, Pushkar is seen angrily gesturing at a man while her security personnel tried to get her safely out of the jostling crowd and into her waiting car. She slapped the man in front of her repeatedly, indicating he was misbehaving with her.
Tharoor on Tuesday hit back at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his own inimitable style for calling his wife "a 50 crore girlfriend". Modi was alluding to the cricket controversy in 2010 involving Pushkar which led to Tharoor's resignation as Minister of State for External Affairs.
"My wife is worth a lot more than your imaginary 50 crores. She is priceless. But you need to be able to love someone to understand that," Tharoor tweeted.
